Psychiatrist

Psychiatrists are physicians who specialize in problems of mental illness. As physicians, they are licensed to use a wide variety of treatments and may write presubscription. Psychiatrists may work for the government, have their own private practice, or work in hospitals, clinics, or universities. Their own duties:

·       Designing treatment programs.
·       Conducting psychotherapy sessions.
·       Prescribing potent mental illness drugs.
·       Supervising electrotherapy treatments.
·       Conduction research.
·       Leading a team of mental health care providers.

 Average Salary: $90,000 - $200,000

Educational Requirements:

Bachelors, Masters, Ph.D. degrees
In addition to completing the requirements for a degree in allopathy or osteopathy medicine, psychiatrists must complete an intensive three year residency in psychiatry.

                                                                    

Reflection:

If I had a choice to become a psychiatrist, I probably wouldn’t. Why? I’m not good with giving people advice. I’ll probably fail at being it either way.

Optician

An Optician is a technical practitioner (a person actively engaged in an art, discipline, or profession, especially medicine.) who designs, fits and dispenses corrective lenses for the correction of a person's vision
Salary:
$35,000 - $45,000
Education:
As a prerequisite for registration in any province of Canada opticians are required to complete a course at one of the NACOR accredited teaching institutions. Persons from an international jurisdiction may apply to a provincial regulatory agency for an assessment of equivalency of their education. Such applications are not unreasonably denied.

Reflection:

I would a job that pays more, it’s not in my interests, and I don’t think ill like to do that for a living.

Ophthalmologist


Duties and Responsibilities:
Ophthalmologists are physicians who specialize in the treatment of eye disorders and diseases. They treat vision problems and write prescriptions for both pharmaceutical and corrective eyeglass lenses. When necessary, they preform eye surgery. Most ophthalmologist are in private practice, however some are employed by hospitals or clinics, and others preform research.

Average Salary: $90,000 - $150,000


Educational Requirements:
Only physicians may study to become ophthalmologist. After completing medical school and an internship, an ophthalmologist must then complete a three to five year residency in an approved ophthalmology program. After completing their residency program they must pass an examination to be certified.


Reflection:

 I probably wouldn’t b be able to make it this far even if I tried it would be nice I could study more about the eyes.

Acupuncture

Duties and Responsibilities:
Acupuncturists are alternative health care providers who use procedures that originated in China more than two thousand years ago. American acupuncture incorporates medical traditions from China, Japan, Korea, and other countries. Acupuncture includes procedures that stimulate anatomical points on the body primarily by penetrating the skin with thin, solid, metallic needles that are manipulated by hand or by electrical stimulation. Scientific evidence shows that stimulation by needles at acupuncture point’s releases hormones called endorphins in the brain, which block pain.

Education:
Acupuncture is a relatively new profession in the United States. Available training varies from apprenticeship to three-year postgraduate programs. About forty states have established training standards for acupuncture certification, but states have varied requirements for obtaining a license to practice acupuncture. In some states, you must first be a doctor of medicine (M.D.) or a chiropractor. However, in other states, a master's of acupuncture (C.A.) at an accredited postgraduate school provides the qualifications necessary for certification. This degree usually consists of two years of study plus a year of supervised practice. Most schools require previous undergraduate study with a focus in anatomy and physiology. Dental Assistant

Dental assistants assist the dental operator (dentist or other treating dental auxiliary) in providing more efficient dental treatment, by preparing the patient for treatment, sterilizing instruments, passing instruments during the procedure, holding suction devices, exposing dental radiographs, taking impressions, and fabricating provisional crowns. Dental operators can focus more time on the procedure; the dental assistant then effectively becomes the operator's extra hands.
Dental assistants should be distinguished from dental hygienists, who usually have a higher level of training and expertise.

I don’t really want to become a Dental Assistant because I really don’t know what to expect fro the patient.

A Chiropractor (A health care professional) is focused on the diagnosis and treatment neuromuscular disorders. The focus on intimate relationship between the nervous system and the spine.

Education:

The typical applicant at a chiropractic college has already acquired nearly four years of pre-medical undergraduate college education, including courses in biology, inorganic and organic chemistry, physics, psychology and related lab work. I would become this just for the pay not anything I want to the rest of my life.

Whether the cardiologist sees you in the office or in the hospital, he or she will review your medical history and perform a physical examination which may include checking your blood pressure, weight, heart, lungs, and blood vessels. Some problems may be diagnosed by your symptoms and the doctor’s findings when you are examined. You may need additional tests such as an ECG, x-ray, or blood test. Other problems will require more specialized testing. Your cardiologist may recommend lifestyle changes or medicine. Each patient’s case is unique

I would not like to become that because what if I don’t count their heart beat right and everything gets screwed up so.. no.

Audiologist

Audiologists diagnose and treat a patient’s hearing and balance problems using advanced technology and procedures. Most audiologists work in healthcare facilities, such as hospitals, physicians' offices, and audiology clinics. Some work in schools or for school districts and travel between facilities.
Salary:
The median annual wage for audiologists was $69,720 in May 2012. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $43,820, and the top 10 percent earned more than $101,130.
Most audiologist work full time. Some may work weekends and evenings to meet patients’ needs. Those who work on a contract basis may spend a lot of time traveling between facilities.
Education:
Audiologists need a doctoral degree and must be licensed in all states; requirements vary by state.

I would get this career, not as a career that I would want the rest of my life.

Athletic Trainer

Duties and Responsibilities:
The athletic trainer will practice said profession within the parameters of the North Carolina Athletic Trainers Licensing Law as laid out by the North Carolina Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners, and will follow both the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association. These duties are based on the needs of the school and its athletic programs. The athletic trainer’s duties, enumerated in this document, should not be considered all inclusive. The Athletic Director, as necessary, shall modify duties. The athletic trainer will be present at home athletic contests and practices and shall attend other post-season and home-hosted contests as directed by the Athletic Director.
